Attention All Insurers Licensed to Transact Business in Wyoming:On October 13, 2015 the Wyoming Insurance Department updated the regulation, Chapter 63, regarding Medical Necessity Review Rights, pursuant to House Bill 57 enacted during the 2015 General Session of the Legislature. The purpose of this regulation is to update the uniform standards for giving notice to claimants of their right to obtain an independent review of any denial of an insurance claim as not medically necessary, or on a similar basis, and to establish internal and external review procedures to assure that claimants under any insurance policy have the opportunity for independent review. Court Takes Action to Liquidate WINhealth
District Judge Thomas Campbell signed an Order to Liquidate WINhealth Partners after reviewing the pleadings and conducting a hearing on the matter in District Court in Cheyenne on January 12, 2016. Click here to view the press release.
Wyoming Department of Insurance Files Petition for Rehabilitation/Receivership of WINhealth
On October 21, 2015, the Wyoming Department of Insurance filed a petition in the First Judicial District Court in Laramie County to place WINhealth Partners (WINhealth) into a Rehabilitation/Receivership following a determination that the Wyoming insurer is financially at risk. WINhealth Partners Withdraws from Federal Marketplace - On October 8, 2015, WINhealth Partners notified the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) that they are voluntarily withdrawing from the federal health insurance exchange. Current insurance plans will remain in effect for the remainder of 2015 but will not be available on the Marketplace for 2016. Click here to read the press release.
