RISK PURCHASING GROUPS

REGISTRATION

To register a risk purchasing group in the State of Wyoming, please complete the following steps:

  1. Complete a Notice of Intent of Liability Purchasing Group to do Business*.

  2. Obtain a certified letter from the state of domicile verifying domiciliary status.

  3. Obtain a notification letter with an original signature or an officer of the insurer verifying that they will be the underwriters.

  4. Complete a Registration of Appointment of Agent for Service of Process* in its entirety, with original signature and proper notarization. Include a Resolution of the Board of Directors.

  5. Issue a check in the amount of $200 for the registration fee, payable to the Wyoming State Treasurer.

  6. Mail all of the above documentation to the address below. All required items must be submitted together. Incomplete registrations will be returned.

Please note that if the group is selling through a producer or surplus lines broker the sales agents must be property licensed by the Department and, if a producer, appointed. Licensing information can be found on the Agents, Agencies, & Adjusters page.

An authorization letter will be sent when the risk purchasing group has be approved to do business in Wyoming.

ANNUAL FILING INSTRUCTIONS

Each year prior to March 1 the following shall be submitted via paper mail:

  1. A completed Annual Statement Reporting Form*.

    • All underwriters must be listed. Include an additional sheet if necessary.

    • It is imperative that name of the selling agent(s) is listed on the line provided on the form. This is to ensure proper licensing and, in the case of Surplus Lines Brokers, proper reporting. Please attach additional sheets if necessary.

  2. A copy of the renewal invoice.

  3. A check for the renewal fees and (if applicable) premium taxes, made out to Wyoming State Treasurer.

Wyoming uses postmark date for filing verification. A 30-day extension may be granted upon receipt of written request.

ADDITIONAL REPORTING REQUIREMENTS

Chapter 15 of Wyoming Insurance Regulations requires that the commissioner shall be notified in writing within 30 days of any changes to the group. This includes any changes to the underwriters.
